[ARCHIVED] Chickens in the City - Survey

A resident has requested and filed for a zoning code change, which would allow up to 6 chickens in residential areas with a lot size of at least 15,000 square feet. It also permits a chicken coup with certain criteria. Current zoning code only allows chickens or non-domesticated or farm animals in agriculturally zoned properties.

A presentation was made to the Planning Commission on 8/6/2020. The chicken presentation is the first issue addressed on the video. Please view the video for further details on the requirements and presentation material. See Link to video below.

8/5/2020 Planning Commission meeting video:

The Planning Commission passed the zoning code change. The next step in the process is a public hearing on September 14, 2020 at the City Council meeting.

Although social media surveys are not statistically valid, we appreciate resident input and ask residents to complete the simple survey. The survey is on the City’s Facebook page, but you do not have to have a Facebook account to take the survey or to view the City’s Facebook page.
