City of Beavercreek’s City Manager, Pete Landrum, presented the 2021 State of the City to Beavercreek City Council and community members during a regularly schedule council meeting on December 13, 2021.  The State of the City highlights the progress and successes of the city and staff throughout 2021 and provides the budget future goals for 2022.

“The last couple of years have been extraordinary challenging for city leaders and staff while navigating through a global pandemic,” said Landrum.  “But during these times, the city has continued with day-to-day operations while providing the best municipal services to the community.”

Landrum’s presentation began with a breakdown of accomplishments by each division and department, including communications; finance; human resources; police department; planning and development; parks, recreation & culture; golf club; public service; and engineering. Landrum then broke down the city’s 2022 municipal budget and presented each department and division’s goal for the upcoming year.

“As city manager, I will ensure myself and city staff continues to find creative solutions, including researching and implementing shared resources with surrounding cities and townships, identify areas of improvement, and aggressively pursue grant opportunities in order to provide the most efficient and cost-effective services to residents,” said Landrum.

Lastly, Landrum addressed the need for additional staff members within the city’s public service division and police department.

“In order to provide sufficient service levels due to increasing population and service level requests, as well as addressing the city’s infrastructure issues, the city must shift their priority to finding additional funding sources,” Landrum said.  “With limited options available, a tax initiative will be required in 2022 for the financial sustainability of the city’s services and future.”

Following the State of the City, Beavercreek City Council passed the 2022 budget.  Public budget work sessions were conducted in November 2021 to allow for staff, city council, and public input. Click here to view the city’s 2022 budget.
