As colder weather approaches, City of Beavercreek residents are reminded of the proper storage requirements for firewood to ensure safety and compliance with local regulations.
Firewood can only be stored on residential property for use on that property and is not permitted for resale. When storing firewood outdoors, it is important to adhere to the following guidelines:
- Firewood should be cut, split, and prepared for use.
- It must be kept in neat, stable, and secure stacks, not exceeding 5 feet in height and 48 inches in width.
- Firewood should not be stored in the front yard.
- It must be kept in good condition and not in a deteriorating state.
These requirements are outlined in Section 153.30 of the city’s Property Maintenance Code. For any questions regarding firewood storage, please contact the City of Beavercreek’s Planning and Development Department at (937) 427-5512 or planning@beavercreekohio.gov.
