[ARCHIVED] Update: No Alligator or Exotic Animals Found at City's Dominick Lofino Park

Dominick Lofino Park 4

After a thorough investigation following an alleged alligator sighting at Dominick Lofino Park, city officials and wildlife experts do not believe an alligator or any other exotic animal is present in the park's pond.

On Sunday, September 15, the Beavercreek Police Department received a report of a potential alligator sighting at the park. However, responding officers did not observe any evidence of an alligator. Following the initial report, Beavercreek parks staff contacted the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) for assistance. An ODNR officer monitored the pond and park throughout the day on Monday, September 16, and also found no signs of an alligator.

Additionally, no further sightings have been reported to the police or city staff despite an increase in visitors to the park. Based on these findings, officials believe that there is no alligator in the pond.

Safety remains a top priority for the city. We remind park visitors to always exercise caution around bodies of water and to keep an eye on children and pets. If you notice anything unusual at one of the city’s parks, please contact its parks division at (937) 427-5514 or parks@beavercreekohio.gov.
