[ARCHIVED] City of Beavercreek Prepares for Winter Storm, Asks Residents to Clear Streets for Plows

As the City of Beavercreek prepares for a significant winter weather event this weekend, officials are strongly urging residents to remove vehicles from streets to allow snowplows to operate safely and efficiently. Forecasts are calling for 8 to 12 inches of snowfall, along with freezing temperatures. Beavercreek’s Public Service crews are closely monitoring conditions and will work around the clock throughout the storm. Vehicles parked on streets, particularly in residential areas and cul-de-sacs, can significantly slow plowing operations and limit crews’ ability to clear roadways curb to curb.

Crews will prioritize primary and major roadways before moving into residential neighborhoods. With more than 250 centerline miles of roadway across 27 square miles, parked vehicles can create challenges that extend plowing times and affect neighborhood access.

Residents are encouraged to help snow removal efforts by taking the following actions:

  • Park vehicles in driveways and off streets, especially in cul-de-sacs.
  • Avoid unnecessary travel during periods of heavy snowfall.
  • Give snowplows plenty of room and never attempt to pass them.
  • Keep trash and recycling bins out of roadways when possible.

City officials thank residents for their cooperation and encourage everyone to use caution during winter weather conditions. These efforts help crews work more efficiently and contribute to keeping the community safe.
