The City of Beavercreek’s Police Department is now accepting applications from residents for its annual Citizens Police Academy (CPA). This free program, hosted by Beavercreek police officers, aims to familiarize residents and business owners with the policies and procedures of the Beavercreek Police Department.
The CPA offers a unique opportunity for community members to engage directly with law enforcement professionals and gain first-hand knowledge from those who serve and protect the community.
This year's academy will take place every Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. starting September 18 and running through October 30. Additionally, one session will be held on Saturday, October 5, from 9 a.m. to noon at the department’s firearm range.
Classes cover a wide range of topics including the criminal justice system, patrol procedures, traffic and drug enforcement, and firearms training. Participants will also have the chance to join a police officer on a ride-along, providing a closer look at the daily operations of the police force.
To be eligible, participants must be residents or business owners in the City of Beavercreek or Beavercreek Township, at least 18-years-old, and pass a background check (minor violations excluded). The department reserves the right to disqualify or remove anyone deemed inappropriate or disruptive to the academy.
Applicants are requested to commit to attending at least six of the eight classes to ensure a comprehensive learning experience. With limited spots available, those who are interested individuals are encouraged to register promptly.
