Responsibilities
The Assistant City Manager at the City of Beavercreek oversees a range of important responsibilities aimed at supporting and working collaboratively with the City Manager and ensuring smooth operations across various departments. This role includes managing administrative tasks and spearheading special projects, as well as providing direction to all city departments under the guidance of the City Manager.
Another key aspect of this role includes the supervision of day-to-day operations of several city divisions, including Beavercreek Parks, Recreation & Culture, Human Resources, and the Beavercreek Golf Club. Additionally, the Assistant City Manager plays a crucial role in policy formation and implementation, fostering cooperation among departments, and offering staff assistance to the City Manager, City Council, and Department Heads. The Assistant City Manager also acts as the City Manager when necessary to maintain continuity in city operations.
Biography
Monica Jones has dedicated her entire career to working in local government and is devoted to serving the public. She previously worked for the City of Dayton for 11 years in various roles, including Acting Director of Procurement Management and Budget, Division Manager, and Assistant to the City Manager. Jones began her career as an ICMA Local Government Management Fellow in Smyrna, Georgia. She earned a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Public Affairs from Indiana University.
