Hawker Cemetery is an active cemetery and is located on the south side of Dayton-Xenia Road just east of I-675.

Brief History

It was the cemetery for the original Hawker church that 1st started out in the building adjacent to the cemetery.

Records indicate that management of the cemetery was turned over the township trustees on January 31st, 1853. At that time, the cost of a 10 grave lot was $5, by 1883 the price had risen to $10 and $15, depending on location.

In minutes from a meeting on June 6, 1888, the board passed a motion to collect all monies due from outstanding debts owed on cemetery lots and to issues deeds to those who resolve their debts.

The earliest known burial is Ann F Eckman in 1809, however it is known that there are some unmarked graves, with no records as to location and who is interred.
